How should debt accounts discharged in bankruptcy show up on my credit report?

Last Updated: Jun 11, 2013 04:23AM UTC

Accounts that were discharged due to a bankruptcy will still show on your credit report for up to ten years. These accounts should indicate two important details: 1) That the account was included in a bankruptcy and 2) No debt is owed.

If accounts related to your bankruptcy are incorrectly showing as owing a balance on your credit report, you may file a dispute to have the error fixed.
