Prepaid cards include either the American Express, Visa or MasterCard logo, and are accepted at the same places credit cards with same logos are. They look no different than a credit card, but unlike a credit card, you can spend only the amount you have funded to the card in advance of making the purchase. You can buy them at grocery stores, gas stations, retail stores, or online. As long as you have the money funded on the card, you can make most purchases with a prepaid card, but transactions like a hotel room, or car rental that require a credit card to cover costs of potential damage probably won’t accept the card as a valid form of “collateral.”
What is a prepaid card and where can I find one?
